現(xiàn)任北京大學(xué)光華管理學(xué)院院長、教授、博士生導(dǎo)師。中國企業(yè)改革與發(fā)展研究會(huì)高級(jí)研究員。
1988年畢業(yè)于武漢大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系并獲學(xué)士學(xué)位，1991年獲得北京大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)碩士學(xué)位，1997年斯坦福大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)博士學(xué)位。
1997年至2005年任教于加州大學(xué)洛杉磯分校。2005年至今任教于北京大學(xué)光華管理學(xué)院，曾任應(yīng)用經(jīng)濟(jì)系系主任、院長助理、副院長。2010年12月至今，任北京大學(xué)光華管理學(xué)院院長。
蔡洪濱教授長期致力于博弈論、產(chǎn)業(yè)組織、公司金融和中國經(jīng)濟(jì)等領(lǐng)域的研究并取得了豐碩的研究成果，在經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、金融學(xué)國際頂級(jí)刊物上發(fā)表20余篇論文，并有眾多的中文研究成果發(fā)表在國內(nèi)頂級(jí)學(xué)術(shù)期刊。領(lǐng)導(dǎo)完成多項(xiàng)國家部委委托的重點(diǎn)課題。2006年獲教育部新世紀(jì)優(yōu)秀人才稱號(hào)。2007年獲國家自然科學(xué)杰出青年科學(xué)基金。2008年被聘為教育部長江學(xué)者特聘教授。2011年當(dāng)選為世界計(jì)量經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)士（Fellow），并于2012年被選為理事會(huì)理事。
蔡洪濱教授為全國人大代表，北京市政協(xié)委員，擔(dān)任民盟中央經(jīng)濟(jì)委員會(huì)副主任以及民盟北京市副主委，國家審計(jì)署特約審計(jì)員。
